Chemical properties
White powder. Mp 162-163 ° C (decomposition). soluble in water. The dilute solution is colorless or yellowish, and is grayish yellow when the concentration is high. It is dark yellow or brown when it is degraded.
Use
Semi-synthetic cephalosporin, a third-generation cephalosporin. This product has a strong effect on Gram-negative bacteria, especially on Enterobacter. Mainly used for respiratory infections caused by sensitive bacteria, urinary tract infections, biliary and intestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, burns and bone and joint infections.
production method
The cephalosporin C produced by fermentation is used as a raw material, and 7-aminocephalosporanic acid (7-ACA) is obtained by cleavage, and then thiolated, condensed with a side chain acid, hydrolyzed and crystallized to obtain cefotaxime, and then with sodium acetate. The salt is formed, and the finished product of cefotaxime (sodium salt) is obtained by decolorization, sterile filtration and crystallization.
